So, what is gamification?

Ok, so gamification sounds interesting. Maybe.

But what is it?

Great question!

It's really all about making things fun. You remember fun, that thing you had before you started your business 😊

What we do is use principles that make games engaging – competition, collaboration, challenge, and reward – to motivate and reward desired behaviours.

So, we build in things such as:

  • Points, Badges, Titles: Rewarding achievements with points, badges, and temporary work titles like “client problem solver of the week”.

  • Leaderboards and Rankings: Fostering healthy competition by using leaderboards. These can be public or private, it really is up to you, and the way you feel people will best react.

  • Levels and Progression: Build a sense of advancement and accomplishment through tiered systems. Give them something to aspire towards, a fixed target to go after.

  • Challenges and Quests: As with Levels & Progression, set up specific goals and objectives with clear rewards.

  • Storytelling and Narrative: Weaving a compelling narrative around the gamified experience. Give people something to get into, something they can identify with.

  • Social Interaction: Aim to build collaboration, competition, and social recognition among participants.

The core elements are giving people a way to engage over time, and using multiple tactics.  They all work together in some way or another, so mix and match. Play with it a bit, see what resonates, and what doesn’t.
